The food and beverage industries are among the most essential functions around the globe. Keeping the supermarket shelves stocked to meet the growing demand requires an equally expanding supply. This means many ingredients and liquids need to be bought or moved in bulk to reduce the costs, which increases the risks and security needs for these goods. Common methods for the transport of bulk liquids and ingredients are tanker trucks and tank containers. With Tanker trucks accounting for 10% of the entire European road transport network and global tank containers reaching 652,350 in 2020. The products transported range from grains, flours, seeds to many kinds of fluids, such as sugars, vinegar, juices and edible oils. Each truck and container holding upto 10,000 gallons of product, allowing large amounts to be moved in each shipment which is of great value to the user.
However, tanker trucks require close monitoring throughout there supply chain. As they have a number of hatches, manholes and other entry points making them vulnerable to contamination and more. Meaning there is a detailed process to any loading or discharge operation to limit the chances of adverse effects to the goods that can lead to the contents being discarded. This includes removing any residue of previous loads through thougher disenfection, any loading or discharge must be done under the correct atmospheric conditions and prevent leaking of gases or vapours. Additionally a key concern is all openings must be secured with quality numbered security seal. Which must then be recorded in the Bill of laden to assure the user the contents have not been accessed in any way in transit.
Utilising the correct securit seals for each entry port allows the user to identify whether the seal is broken, tampered with or the numbers don’t match the previously logged information so the load can be rejected if needed. Quickly identifying adulteration, contamination or even the very real threat of bioterrorism is the primary function of tamper evident security seals. Mega Fortris supply highly effective tamper evident seals that provide a great seal to all access points in transit.
Security Seals for Tanker Bulk Liquid & Ingredients Shipments
Our tamper evident security seals offer great value to the small apertures on tanker trucks or containers throughout the transit process.
This seal is designed for smaller aperture applications but still offers high strength to size ratio. Available in biodegradable, PP or Nylon and cold weather PP for increased strength and climate resistance during storage and transport. Using heat staking technology to permanently fix the seal cap to seal body of the fast seal. This means that the seal cannot be cut or forced open without clear evidence of tampering, thus alerting the user to a potential security breach. It also features embedded spikes on the back of the seal which provide better strapping grip on even slippery materials that exist on a tank container. The large flag allows additional space for the laser marking that can etch name, logo, sequential numbers & barcodes.
The mini cable lock premium (MCLP) is a semi-barrier security seal that utilises a galvanised steel wire connected to Zinc body moulded over with High impact ABS to provide high tamper evidence to applications. The ABS mould will not break easily, as well as clearly discolouring if tampered with or manipulated. The cable is available up to 300mm with one end permanently fixed to the lock body, in addition to the insertion hole being protected by a protruding lip preventing tampering. Finally the sequential numbering, barcoding, logos and names are etched onto the seal using laser marking, offering the highest marking security to preserve information for checks of the tank container throughout transport.
The MCLP 2K features all the benefits of the normal MCLP with the additional benefit of a 2-colour design. Using a separate colour for the marking area not only makes it harder to replicate the seal, but increases visibility of markings and barcode reading. The altered marking surface also features groves to further protect markings from being damaged or unreadable.
These seals meet the requirements for tank containers by offering a strong and tight seal on the many access points to clearly signify unauthorized access or possible openings. Also offering clear markings that will resist attempts to alter or ware the numbers that may possibly lead to the load being rejected and losses for your business.
